TODDLER II (2 years)
The age of two is a time of discovery, of play, and of endless curiosity. At this age, children are developing a sense of independence and are trying to gain meaning from the world around them. Our two year old program is designed to nurture and enrich your child’s emotional, social, academic, and physical development while providing the support, devotion, and reinforcement your child needs while you're away.
CREATIVITY
In the Toddler 2 classroom, we love creative expression! We provide daily opportunities for your child to express themselves through arts, dance, music, and dramatic play.
KNOWLEDGE
Children participate in academic activities that are designed to lay the foundations for learning basic knowledge such as colors, shapes, and the alphabet.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Your child will be given the opportunity to participate regularly in activities that allow them to explore different interests and work on their cognitive and basic motor skills. We encourage honing your child's communication abilities by prompting imitation and repetition of words and sentences. Additionally, we reinforce these abilities by providing exposure to letter recognition through play, writing centers, and by engaging in numerous reading experiences.
SOCIAL/ EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
While academics are important, we also feel it is essential for your child to learn self-help skills, empathy, problem-solving, and to develop their self-esteem. Best of all, your child will have FUN in the process!
While some children may begin potty training in the Toddler 2 classroom, we do not require that children begin potty training until the parents believe they are ready. We feel that potty training is a stage that each child goes through at a different time regardless of their cognitive abilities.
BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT
The Toddler 2 room encourages behavior that is kind and gentle to themselves, other children, and equipment. If a child forgets this rule, the teacher will verbally remind the child of the rule and offer an appropriate behavior. Redirection is the basis of behavior management in Toddler 2.
